Alverine Citrate is a type of medicine called smooth muscle relaxant.

Smooth muscle is a muscle type that is not under voluntary control. It is the muscle that is found in places like the walls of the intestines and the womb. Alverine Citrate directly acts on this type of muscle, causing it to relax.

Alverine Citrate stops the muscle spasms occurring in the gut in conditions such as IBS and diverticular disease. This relieves the pain that is associated with these conditions.

Alverine Citrate also provides relief to the muscle spasms occurring in the womb which cause painful periods.

Alverine Citrate is effective in reducing stomach cramping, a common symptom of IBS. It effectively provides relief for irritable bowel syndrome, painful diverticular disease of the colon, and for painful periods.

To relieve muscle pain, take one or two Alverine Citrate capsules up to three times a day or as directed by your doctor.

Alverine Citrate is not recommended for children under 12 years of age.
